(Senior) Business Analyst

Masters degree(with some relevant experience)
Although Business Analysts (BAs) typically enter our European offices after finishing a Masters degree; the nature of these degrees varies, and includes business, engineering, or even liberal arts.

SBAs who join usually hold a Master degree and have 2-3 years of relevant experience.

Analytical and authentic team players
If pressed to describe a typical A.T. Kearney BAs and SBAs, we can say that they are authentic individuals, who like to work in a team. They have a strong academic record, superior intellectual, analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication abilities and personal maturity.

An SBA is a BA who has gained experience, thus working on larger and more complex work streams than a BA. The SBA position builds upon all of the skills and aptitudes required for work at the BA level, and then pushes these strengths further to prepare you for the role of Associate.

(S)BAs are indispensable team members, and their ideas and opinions are not only accepted, but also expected and crucial to solving our clients’ problems. You are responsible for finding critical information, developing quantitative models, performing complex analyses and doing interviews at the client. Your findings and contributions to team discussions will help A.T. Kearney to deliver lasting impact.

As (S)BA you will grow incredibly fast! You will undertake a broad range of activities for projects and internally. You might also travel abroad for projects or training.

You will gain experience in many industries, and functional practices. You’ll work for many different clients and get to know, interact and work together with various current and potential business leaders. You’ll be challenged to develop first-hand knowledge of the client’s strategic issues.

Next to your project work, you help with firm building. Examples include you organizing a recruitment event or Christmas party, enjoying the Summer Academy training week with international colleagues, help writing a proposal. Or you might be sharing Intellectual Capital about your last project with a Principal abroad who is working on something similar. This will help you gain experience besides the project work you do, which can help you succeed in the business world.

BA Academy
During your first 4 months as a BA, you are assigned to 2 projects. During this period you can get a feel of what is expected of you in different settings. In the mean time we will provide you with the basic training that is necessary to build your skills, such as New Consultant Orientation, Excel, PowerPoint and Presentation skills.

Associate

Diverse backgrounds
Associates typically have 3 to 6 years of full-time relevant business experience and/or a degree such as an MBA or PhD.

Superior communication and facilitation skills
As an A.T. Kearney Associate you are a team-oriented individual who thrives on challenge. A project is often split into several work streams. You are expected to lead a work stream with limited steering from your supervisors. You synthesize conclusions and form recommendations independently. Therefore, you need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and adapt easily to new cultures. You are a strong group facilitator as well as a capable leader and successful team player. As Associate you coach junior team members. Furthermore, you are expected to have superior analytical skills and should be dedicated to continuous learning.

Independently deliver valuable insights, sharpen your skills
As an A.T. Kearney Associate, you are involved in the project from the very beginning. You are challenged to independently deliver valuable insights and identify problems, analyze data, conduct benchmarking, generate proposals, secure the clients’ buy-in to strategic solutions and recommend and help implement actions.

Our goal is to guide you and sharpen your professional and personal skills. Especially your communication and people management skills will grow. Generally, during your time as Associate you’ll start to gain specialized knowledge in the field that you have passion for.

A.T. Kearney allows selected consultants to spend some time abroad working for another A.T. Kearney office, to help them strengthen their international network. Also, A.T. Kearney financially supports selected consultants who want to follow a MBA.

Manager

Responsible for engagements
A.T. Kearney Managers typically have 6 to 9 years of relevant experience and are expected to take on responsibility for client engagements. As Manager, you are entrusted with project management and the overall client problem. You’re expected to fully understand the bigger picture and be aware of potential issues in the details. You determine how to bring most value and impact to the client by working closely with the clients’ senior management and act as trusted advisor. Furthermore, you assign the right person to the right task, and make sure that deliverables are scheduled and presented on time.

Superior interpersonal and leadership skills
As Manager you are expected to have superior interpersonal skills to build relationships and make sure all stakeholders within A.T. Kearney and at the client are aligned. You are convincing in your way of presenting your view on how the client should take action. You need to have good leadership skills in order to manage your A.T. Kearney team and excellent analytical skills to help the consultants with their analyses. Furthermore, you are responsible for the development of your team members and are expected to give consultants feedback and encourage them as they continue.

From Manager level up there are position and person-specific opportunities for professional development and mentoring to help guiding their career path. Furthermore, you are in a great position to develop expertise in a specific industry or service practice.

Business development and client engagements

A.T. Kearney Principals are elected to their position. Their everyday responsibilities involve the development of engagement strategy and business development. At the same time they are dealing directly with several clients or managing several client engagements at one time.

Principals are often sought out by client relations for their advice and leadership on business problems. They build on their expertise in functional area or industry, and think of new problem solving approaches. Principals often act as expert on other client engagements and actively influence the Executive Boards’ strategic agenda.

Principals also become involved in internal projects that create visibility within the firm. Principals have an important role in firm leadership. Principals mentor several consultants in the firm and are responsible for the development of their mentees as well as the consultants who work on their engagements.
