A.T. Kearney Business Analyst
Just as no two client engagements are identical, there is no single model for A.T Kearney consultants. Although BA’s typically enter our European offices after finishing a Masters degree, the nature of these degrees vary, and include business, engineering, and even the liberal arts.
If pressed to describe a typical A.T. Kearney BA, we can say that they are team players with a strong academic record, superior intellectual, analytical and quantitative skills, excellent communication abilities and personal maturity.
BA’s are fully participating members of the team, and their ideas and opinions are not just accepted, but expected. They work with more experienced consultants to develop models, perform complex analyses, and work on research assignments at both the office and client sites. They may also travel abroad for their work, undertaking a broad range of activities while gaining exposure to the business world. Good knowledge of local languages is required.

A few words from Ruben in ‘t Veld, Business Analyst
I joined A.T. Kearney at the end of 2008 after completing a Masters degree in Finance & Investments. During my first half year I experienced three projects, one of them being located in Zurich, at very different clients. Needless to say, this broad exposure has provided me with a fantastic environment in which to learn and grow.
Less than a year ago, I couldn't have imagined learning so much in such a short timeframe. Of course, this would never have been possible without proper training and the tremendous support I received from my colleagues – support that is vital for development. As a starting Business Analyst, with little industry or consulting experience and limited skills in the tools of the trade, you have to develop quickly. Your responsibilities rapidly diversify from data analysis to managing your own work stream with client team members within a project. I especially enjoy high impact situations in which the best way forward is jointly determined with the client to maximize the likelihood of successful implementation.
As a Business Analyst, I generally play the role of data analyst, which means that I am responsible for gathering, analyzing, and structuring data. Another key component of my work is communicating my findings to the A.T. Kearney team as well as to the client. But being a Business Analyst is much more than finding and crunching numbers. The position requires the ability to facilitate client sessions such as workshops, to act as a source of inspiration by debating other consultants' challenges, and to provide advice and knowledge to my colleagues as my knowledge base grows.
